Galaxy of Lights Races
The event comprises two runs at the Huntsville Botanical Garden on consecutive dates in late November and early December 2026. Both courses wind through the Galaxy of Lights trail; most of the path is paved with occasional sections of gravel. Only registered participants are allowed access to the Galaxy of Lights displays for these events.
Distances
- 5k Race (3.1 miles) timed race with staggered waves
- 3k Fun Run (1.8 miles) untimed run with stroller access allowed
The 5k is a timed race and requires runners to start with their assigned wave for correct timing. The 5k prohibits pets, strollers, headphones, and non registered participants. The 3k prohibits pets, headphones, and non registered participants over age three, while unregistered children under three may accompany a paid adult but will not receive a commemorative t shirt.
All registrations are final, non transferable, and non refundable. Entry fees vary by event and age category; a combo option is available. All registrants receive a commemorative long sleeved tech t shirt except ages 0 to 3 for the 3k Fun Run.
Packet pick up is available at Fleet Feet Sports Huntsville and at the Huntsville Botanical Garden inside the Nichols Arbor on specified dates. Refreshments are provided for registered participants inside Nichols Arbor; spectators may purchase refreshments near the Grisham Pavilion. Parking is through the main Garden entrance; additional parking is available at Morris School.
The 5k presents awards for top overall and master finishers and top three finishers across age groups. The run proceeds rain or shine; lightning may delay or cancel the event. In the event of cancellation there are no refunds and entry fees will be donated to the Huntsville Botanical Garden. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
