Galaxy of Lights Races
The Galaxy of Lights event includes two runs held at the Huntsville Botanical Garden, 4747 Bob Wallace Ave SW, Huntsville, AL. The courses wind through the Galaxy of Lights trail; the majority of each path is paved with occasional sections of gravel.
- 5k (3.1 miles)
- 3k Fun Run (1.8 miles)
The 5k is a timed race with staggered start waves; participants must start in their assigned wave for accurate timing and awards. The 3k Fun Run is not timed. Event rules differ by race: pets, headphones, and non-registered participants are not allowed on the 5k course; strollers are also prohibited on the 5k. For the 3k Fun Run, pets and headphones are not allowed, unregistered children under 3 are permitted but will not receive a commemorative t-shirt, and strollers are welcome.
All registrations are final, non-transferable, and non-refundable. Entry fees are published for each event and for a combo option, with higher late registration fees beginning on November 2. All registrants receive a commemorative long-sleeved tech t-shirt (ages 0-3 do not receive a shirt for the 3k Fun Run). Refreshments are provided for registered participants inside the Nichols Arbor; refreshments for spectators are available for purchase near the Grisham Pavilion. Packet pick-up locations include Fleet Feet Sports - Huntsville and the Huntsville Botanical Garden on the days before each run.
The 5k has awards by gender and age groups, plus master categories for ages 40 and over. The runs proceed rain or shine; lightning can delay or cancel the events, and in the event of cancellation entry fees will be donated to the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
