Galaxy of Lights Races
The Galaxy of Lights Races take place at the Huntsville Botanical Garden and use the Garden's Galaxy of Lights trail. The course surface is mostly paved with occasional gravel sections. Only registered participants are allowed access to the light displays during the events.
The program includes two separate events and a combo option:
- 5k Race (3.1 miles) timed event with staggered start waves
- 3k Fun Run (1.8 miles) untimed event where strollers are allowed
The 5k is a timed race and requires participants to start in their assigned wave for accurate timing and awards. The 5k does not allow pets, strollers, headphones, or non-registered participants on course. The 3k does not allow pets, headphones, or non-registered participants over age three; unregistered children under three may accompany an adult but will not receive a commemorative shirt. Registrations are final, non-transferable, and non-refundable.
Entry fees vary by event and age categories, and a combo entry is offered. All registrants receive a commemorative long-sleeved tech shirt except children ages 0 to 3 in the 3k Fun Run. Packet pick-up locations include Fleet Feet Sports - Huntsville and the Huntsville Botanical Garden inside the Nichols Arbor; specific packet pick-up dates and locations are provided by the organizer.
Awards for the 5k include top male and female finishers, top master finishers (age 40 and over), and top three finishers in standard age groups from 9 and under through 65 and over. The event proceeds in rain or shine; lightning may cause delays or cancellation, and in the event of cancellation entry fees will be donated to the Huntsville Botanical Garden.
