Galaxy of Lights Races : Huntsville Botanical Garden
The event includes two runs that pass through the Galaxy of Lights trail at the Huntsville Botanical Garden. The course is mostly paved with occasional gravel sections and follows the illuminated garden trail. Only registered participants are permitted access to the displays during the runs.
Distances:
- 5 km (3.1 miles) timed race with staggered waves; participants must start in their assigned wave for accurate timing
- 3 km (1.8 miles) untimed fun run; strollers are permitted for this distance
Participant rules differ by event. For the 5 km race, pets, strollers, headphones, and non-registered participants are not allowed on course; ages 3 and under are not eligible. For the 3 km fun run, pets, headphones, and non-registered participants over age 3 are not allowed; strollers are welcome and unregistered children under age 3 may accompany a paid adult but will not receive a commemorative shirt. All registrations are final, non-transferable, and non-refundable.
All registrants receive a commemorative long-sleeved tech shirt except ages 0-3 for the 3 km. Refreshments are provided for registered participants inside the Nichols Arbor; refreshments for spectators are available for purchase near the Grisham Pavilion. Packet pick-up locations include Fleet Feet Sports - Huntsville and Huntsville Botanical Garden on listed event dates.
The 5 km has multiple age and overall award categories. The run proceeds in rain or shine; lightning protocols and possible cancellation apply, and refunds are not provided in the event of cancellation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
