Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Wild Thangs Trail Series is a set of four trail races held around Huntsville, Alabama. The series runs from June through August and offers both short and long race distances across multiple events. Courses are described as spectator friendly and include bluff views, creek crossings, waterfalls and mountain scenery.
The series comprises four events with these distances:
- Big Foot - 5K and 10K
- Jackalope - 4 Mile and 8 Mile
- Skunk Ape - 5 Mile and 10 Mile
- Chupacabra - 10K and Half marathon
Several aid stations are provided on course with water, Gatorade, Coke, GU, pretzels, M&M's, granola bars and similar items. Marco's Pizza is listed as a sponsor and will provide pizza at the finish line of each race. Race shirts are short sleeve tri-blend.
Packet pickup is available at RunningLane (2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL 35801) and may also be available the morning of each race. The series bundle is capped at 250 runners. Short Series and Long Series bundles include price savings and each series entry receives a series t-shirt, finisher awards and a series plaque.
Age groups run 0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+. Organizers state very loose cutoffs and note a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits or transfers; leftover shirts are donated rather than mailed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
