Wild Thangs Trail Series
The Wild Thangs Trail Series is a four-race trail series held around Huntsville, Alabama from June through August 2026. Each event offers both short and long race distances and is described as spectator friendly with bluff views, creek crossings, and waterfalls.
Race dates and distances:
- June 20, 2026 - Big Foot: 5K and 10K
- July 11, 2026 - Jackalope: 4 Mile and 8 Mile
- August 1, 2026 - Skunk Ape: 5 Mile and 10 Mile
- August 22, 2026 - Chupacabra: 10K and Half marathon
Aid stations will be located on course and provide water, Gatorade, coke, GU, pretzels, M and M's, granola bars and similar items. Marco's Pizza is listed as a sponsor and will provide pizza at the finish line of each race.
Series registration is capped at 250 runners. Short Series and Long Series bundles offer stated registration savings and include a series t-shirt, finisher awards, and a series plaque. There are no refunds, deferrals, credits, or entry transfers. Packet pickup is at RunningLane, 2407 Memorial Pkwy SW, Huntsville, AL 35801, with specified pickup days before each race and limited morning of race pickup available.
Age groups run from 0-9 up to 70 plus. Organizers note very loose cutoffs with a 17 minute per mile cutoff for Long Series participants and provide average summer temperatures for Huntsville. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
