South Wales 200 – Wild Horse 200
The South Wales 200 is a 200 mile point-to-point trail race across South Wales, running from Chepstow to Worm’s Head. Runners have a strict 120 hour time limit to complete the course, with a required passage of the 100 mile marker within 55 hours. The route includes approximately 30,000 feet of climbing and is reported as about 80% trail and 20% road.
The event provides eight aid stations, including three full sleep stations. Checkpoints are placed at roughly 25 mile intervals. Aid stations offer warm and cold food and drinks, medical support, and can accommodate dietary requirements. Runners may run with a personal crew or uncrewed; drop bags are transported to every checkpoint under an organised system.
Each runner is allowed one drop bag with maximum dimensions 45 cm x 75.5 cm x 45 cm and a volume of 132 litres. Plastic boxes and suitcases are not permitted. Shops along the route may be used by runners.
Trackers are issued so spectators can follow runners live; the tracking link is provided the day before the event. Finishers receive specific items of race memorabilia, including a finisher buckle and medal, plus a T-shirt and a map print. Transport options include a shuttle service the day before from Worm’s Head to Chepstow, and event parking is available at the National Trust car park for a fee of £25 payable on the day.
