The Summer GMU
The Summer Green Man Ultra (GMU) is a challenging ultra marathon held near Bristol, featuring two race distances: 45 miles and 30 miles. Both events run on the same course in a clockwise direction, differing only in start locations and distances. The 45-mile race is a full loop of the Community Forest Path, starting and finishing at Ashton Park School, while the 30-mile race, known as The Green Boy, begins at The White Horse in Hambrook and finishes at Ashton Park School.
The course includes four checkpoints offering food and drink, with hot food available at the finish. Finishers receive bespoke medals and technical T-shirts. Participants completing both summer and winter 45-mile events earn special GMU buckles based on cumulative times.
The race is known for its tough, muddy terrain and self-navigation requirements, with support from experienced "timelords" pacing groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
