The event
The Summer Green Man Ultra (Summer MTC GMU) takes place on 22 August 2026 near Bristol. The event is offered in two distances:
- 45 miles
- 30 miles
The 45 mile race is a full clockwise loop of the Community Forest Path, starting and finishing at Ashton Park School just outside the centre of Bristol. The 30 mile race is a partial clockwise loop, starting at The White Horse, Hambrook and finishing at Ashton Park School. From 2026 the event will include competitor tracking.
Course, support and rules
The course is self-navigation and the organiser provides GPX files and a written route booklet. There are four checkpoints that monitor times and wellbeing and supply water and food. The race is cup-free so runners must carry a reusable cup. Chip timing is used at the start and finish; manual timing is used at intermediate checkpoints.
All entrants must be aged 20 or over on race day and must carry mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, Ordnance Survey maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Cut-off structure is intended to allow completion within a 12 hour period; entrants outside cut-offs will not be permitted to continue. Prizes include bespoke finisher medals, trophies for podium positions, and special buckles for completing both summer and winter 45 mile events within cumulative time bands. Total ascent is listed as 945 metres and the race carries 3 UTMB points. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
