The Summer Mount to Coast Green Man Ultra
The Summer Green Man Ultra is a trail race held on the Community Forest Path around Bristol with two distance options. Both distances run the same course in a clockwise direction and share the same checkpoints and finish location; they differ only by start location and distance.
- 45 miles
- 30 miles
The 45 mile race is a full clockwise loop finishing at Ashton Park School. The 30 mile event is a partial clockwise loop that finishes at the same location but starts at The White Horse, Hambrook. There are four staffed checkpoints on the course that provide water and a selection of food. The event is cup free so competitors must carry a reusable cup.
The race is self navigation. GPX files and written directions are provided and pace leaders called timelords run set target paces to help with navigation and group pacing. Chip timing is used at the start and finish and manual electronic timing is used at checkpoints. From 2027 all Summer Green Man Ultras will be tracked.
Mandatory kit is required and random bag checks are carried out at registration. Required items include a backpack, maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food and a basic first aid kit. Checkpoint cut-offs are enforced to allow completion within the official overall time limit; anyone outside those cut-offs will not be allowed to continue.
All finishers receive a bespoke Green Man medal. Top finishers and veterans receive trophies and special awards, and combined completion of both summer and winter 45 mile events in the same year qualifies for cumulative-time buckles. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
