The Drop - Bristol
The Drop is a navigation challenge in which participants are taken to an undisclosed location and must find their own way back to the event centre at Up & Running, 38 North View, Westbury Park, Bristol BS6 7QA. The event has no marked route, no directional signage, and no navigational reassurance.
At registration participants hand over all electronic devices, watches, and navigational aids. In exchange they receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag that must be carried for the duration. Deployment is by bus while wearing blackout blindfolds or approved alternatives; when blindfolds are removed the participant's time starts.
Key constraints and rules include no map, no GPS, no compass, and on-foot travel only. Devices may record activity only if sealed inside the emergency bag. Breaking the emergency bag seal leads to disqualification. Distances are measured as the crow flies; actual ground distance will be significantly longer.
Distances offered
- 6 miles (non-locals only)
- 10 miles
- 15 miles
Live GPS tracking is available as an optional feature separate from the entry fee. Trackers are accurate to about 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings and black spots. All trackers must be returned at the finish or a replacement fee of £175 will apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
