Event overview

The Drop - Bristol is an outdoor navigation event held on 5 September 2026 at Up & Running, 38 North View, Westbury Park, Bristol BS6 7QA. Entrants choose between 10 miles or 15 miles measured as the crow flies; the actual route back to the event centre may be longer. Entry fees listed are £48 for the 10-mile option and £55 for the 15-mile option. The event is open to entrants aged 18 and over on the event date.

Format and rules

Participants hand over electronic devices and navigational aids at registration and receive a race number and a sealed emergency bag. Competitors are transported to an undisclosed drop-off location and must make their own way back to the event centre without maps, GPS, compasses, or outside help. Blindfolds are used at drop-off; blackout safety goggles are available as an alternative. Breaking the seal on the emergency bag or using unauthorised navigation aids results in disqualification.

Safety and logistics

Live GPS tracking is offered as an optional, paid feature; trackers are stated to be accurate within 5 metres but can be affected by tall buildings or signal gaps. Trackers must be returned after the event or a £175 replacement fee applies. Parking is available in the town centre; the nearest railway station is about a 20-minute walk and a bus station about 15 minutes from the event HQ.
