Race format and kit
Swimmers start from Stoke Gabriel and finish at Dolphin Boatyard in Galmpton. Aquathlon participants swim the same 4 km section, move to a nearby transition area at Dolphin Boatyard, then complete a run through Greenway Woods and quiet country lanes back to the boatyard. The aquathlon course suits road shoes. Normal swim-run kit is permitted, including tow floats; flippers are not allowed. Hand fins are permitted but users of hand fins are not eligible for podium prizes. Labelled drop bags will be taken to the transition area and the finish.
Safety, timing and logistics
The event uses manual timing and participants will be set off in two waves in coordination with the harbourmaster and safety team. Full water safety coverage will include safety kayakers, rescue boats and crews, with no competitor expected to be more than 200 m from a safety vessel. Wetsuit rules vary by water temperature: wetsuits may be banned if water exceeds 22°C, may be optional above 14°C, and a reduced course may be considered if water falls below 11.9°C. Friends of The Dart will be present to discuss water quality. Registration and swim pack collection take place at Stoke Gabriel.
Policies
If the event is cancelled due to poor water quality, full credits to another date are offered. If the event is modified or rescheduled no credit is available. No refunds are offered under any circumstances. Finisher’s medals and prizes are provided where applicable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
