Wild Dart Swim and Aquathlon (4k and 15k aquathlon)
This event takes place on the River Dart at Galmpton Creek, Brixham, using a new downstream swim route that finishes at the Dolphin Boatyard. Registration is at Stoke Gabriel and optional transport is available for participants who have purchased it.
Distances
- 4k swim
- 15k aquathlon (4k swim plus a 10k run)
The aquathlon combines the 4k river swim with a run along wooded footpaths at Greenway and quiet country lanes, finishing at the Boatyard. Drop bags that are clearly labelled will be taken from registration to the transition area at Dolphin Boatyard. Catering is provided at the finish.
Safety measures include a team of safety kayakers, rescue boats and crews, with a rule that no one should be more than 200 m from a safety vessel. Swimmers will be briefed and will exit at the Dolphin Boatyard jetty one at a time where possible. Water temperature thresholds influence the course and kit rules: a reduced course may be used if temperature falls below 11.9°C; wetsuits are optional above 14°C and banned above 22°C. Tow floats are permitted but must be quick release; flippers are not allowed and hand fins prevent podium eligibility.
Timing is manual and participants will be set off in waves. The organiser works with local water-quality groups and will offer credits if cancellation is due to poor water quality; other refund rules apply. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
