Wild Dart Swim and Aquathlon

The event takes place at Galmpton Creek, finishing at the Dolphin Boatyard in Galmpton with registration at the Shed in Stoke Gabriel. Swimmers will follow a new section of the River Dart and finish at the boatyard. Catering is available at the finish area.

Distances:

  • 4k swim
  • 15k aquathlon

The 15k aquathlon consists of the 4k swim to Dolphin Boatyard followed by a run along wooded footpaths at Greenway and quiet country lanes that returns to the boatyard. Aquathlon competitors exit the water at the boatyard, move to a nearby transition area, and continue to the run.

Safety and kit rules are stated for the swim. A team of safety kayakers, rescue boats and crews will operate throughout the swim so that no participant should be more than 200 m from a safety vessel. Wetsuit rules depend on water temperature; swimming without a wetsuit is allowed above 14 degrees Celsius at the swimmer’s own risk, and wetsuits will be banned above 22 degrees Celsius. Tow floats are permitted; flippers are not allowed and hand fins disqualify users from podium prizes.

Logistics include manual timing, swim caps, full water safety coverage, optional transport from finish to start for ticket holders, and provision for clearly labelled drop bags to be taken to the transition area. If poor water quality forces cancellation, credits to another date may be offered; refunds are not available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
