Course and logistics
Distances:
- 4k swim to Dolphin Boatyard
- 15k aquathlon comprising the 4k swim plus an approximate 10k run
Swimmers start by heading downstream from Stoke Gabriel and aquathlon competitors exit at Dolphin Boatyard then move to a nearby transition area before the run. Registration takes place beside The Shack in Stoke Gabriel. Organisers will collect clearly labelled drop bags at registration and take them to the transition area. Optional transport from finish to start is available for those who have purchased it; transport arrangements are confirmed with Bob The Bus.
Safety and kit
The event uses manual timing and provides full water safety coverage, including safety kayakers and rescue boats with a maximum distance of 200 m to a safety vessel. Wetsuit rules: swims may be allowed without wetsuits if water temperature is above 14°C; wetsuits will be banned if water temperature exceeds 22°C. If water temperature falls below 11.9°C, a reduced swim course may be considered. Tow floats and normal swim-run kit are permitted; flippers are not allowed and hand fins disqualify podium eligibility. Prizes and finisher’s medals are provided where conditions allow.
