Event
The Haytor Heller takes place on Saturday 5th September 2026 and is in its 40th year. The race starts below Haytor Rock and follows a single lap route across open moorland before returning to Haytor Rock and a downhill section to the finish opposite the middle car park. The course is approximately 6 miles, entirely off-road, and includes several steep ascents and descents, two short woodland sections (below Hound Tor and below Haytor), and a stream crossing. The event was part of the 2026 Dartmoor Fell Series and is a scoring event for that series.
Course rules and facilities
Race HQ is at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park. Toilets are available; there are no showers or changing facilities. Drinks are provided at Hound Tor (approx. 4 miles) and at the finish. Dogs and following cyclists are not allowed on the course. There is a strict cut-off at the top of Hound Tor (approx. 4 miles); runners not reaching that point within one hour will be asked to withdraw and a lift back to Race HQ will be provided. For safety, headphones or earphones of any kind are prohibited and runners who ignore this rule will be disqualified. The race has a limit of 350 entries. Number transfers are accepted only on race day with an administration charge of £3. Entries will open in the spring. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
