Haytor Heller
Haytor Heller is an off-road moorland race held on Dartmoor with a single lap course of approximately 6 miles that starts and finishes at Haytor Rock. The route runs across rugged, open moorland with several steep ascents and descents, includes a stream crossing, and has two short sections through woodland below Hound Tor and below Haytor. The finish is on a fast downhill section opposite the middle car park at Haytor.
Race headquarters are at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park. Facilities at Race HQ include toilets but no showers or changing. Food and refreshments are available, with cakes and a BBQ on site. There is a water station at Hound Tor just short of four miles and additional water at the finish. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and free race photos are provided.
The event is organized by Teignbridge Trotters and is authorised under an Association of Running Clubs race permit No. 26/0451. The race has a limit of 350 entries and enforces a one hour cut off at Hound Tor. Minimum age for entry is 16. Entry fees listed are £14 for ARC or UKA affiliated runners, £16 for unaffiliated runners, and £5 for under 18s.
Prizes are awarded for overall and age category positions and for first male and female teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
