Haytor Heller
Haytor Heller is an annual off-road moorland race that follows a single lap route starting and finishing near Haytor Rock on Dartmoor. The course is approximately 6 miles and runs mainly across rugged, open moorland, with two short woodland sections below Hound Tor and below Haytor. The route includes several steep ascents and descents and a stream crossing.
The event is limited to 350 entrants and enforces a 1 hour cut-off at Hound Tor. Water is provided at Hound Tor (just short of 4 miles) and at the finish. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and free race photos. Race HQ is at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park; toilets are available but there are no showers or changing facilities. Food and refreshments, including cakes and a barbecue, are available at Race HQ.
Entries are open from 18 March 2026 and close on 3 September 2026. Minimum age to enter is 16. Entry fees differ for affiliated and unaffiliated runners and are reduced for under 18s. Dogs are not permitted to accompany runners, and following cyclists are not allowed. The race is authorised under an Association of Running Clubs permit (No. 26/0451). Prizes are awarded to top finishers by overall placing, age categories and to male and female teams. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
