Haytor Heller
Haytor Heller is an approximately 6 mile off-road moorland race that starts below Haytor Rock and returns there on a single lap course. The route runs across open, rugged moorland with several steep ascents and descents, a stream crossing and two short sections through woodland below Hound Tor and below Haytor. The course is completely off-road; dogs and following cyclists are not permitted.
Race headquarters is at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park. Facilities include toilets but no showers or changing. There is a water station at Hound Tor (just short of 4 miles) and another at the finish. Finishers receive a bespoke medal and free race photos. Food items such as cakes and a BBQ are available at Race HQ.
The event is organised by Teignbridge Trotters and is authorised under an Association of Running Clubs permit No. 26/0451. Entry is limited to 350 runners; a one hour cut off is applied at Hound Tor. Entry fees are listed as £14 for ARC/UKA affiliated runners, £16 for unaffiliated runners, and £5 for under 18s. The race supports the Moor Trees charity, with donations matched pound for pound by the organising club.
