Haytor Heller
Haytor Heller is a long-established moorland race of approximately 6 miles that starts below Haytor Rock and runs a single hilly lap before returning to Haytor Rock for a downhill finish opposite the middle car park. The course is completely off-road across rugged, open moorland, with several steep ascents and descents, a stream crossing and two short sections through woodland below Hound Tor and below Haytor.
Race headquarters are at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park. Toilets are provided; there are no showers or changing facilities. Onsite provisions include a BBQ and cakes for sale, free race photos and a quality bespoke medal for all finishers. A water station is located at Hound Tor, just short of four miles, and there is water at the finish.
The event has a race limit of 350 entrants and a one hour cutoff time at Hound Tor. Minimum entry age is 16. Prize categories include the first three men and women, first in multiple age groups for men and women, and first male and female teams (four to count). The race is authorised under an Association of Running Clubs race permit No. 26/0451. The organising club supports the local charity Moor Trees, with Teignbridge Trotters matching donations pound for pound. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
