Haytor Heller
Haytor Heller is an annual off road moorland race held on 5 September 2026 that starts below Haytor Rock and returns to finish opposite the middle car park at Haytor. The course is a single lap of approximately 6 miles run mainly across open rugged moorland, with two short woodland sections below Hound Tor and below Haytor, and it includes a stream crossing.
The route features several steep ascents and descents and a fast downhill section back to the finish. The course is completely off road. Runners must adhere to the Country Code; dogs and following cyclists are not permitted. Race HQ is at the Coach Park at the far end of the lower car park. There will be toilets but no showers or changing facilities. Food and refreshments including a BBQ and cakes will be available for purchase at Race HQ.
Entries are limited to 350 participants. There is a race cut off one hour after the start at Hound Tor. Water stations are provided at Hound Tor, just short of four miles, and at the finish. All finishers receive a bespoke medal and free race photos. The event is authorised under an Association of Running Clubs race permit No. 26/0451. Entry fees are listed as £14 for ARC UKA affiliated runners, £16 for unaffiliated runners and £5 for under 18s.
