Event Details
The Wicklow Way Half is a trail running event. It will be held on Saturday, 14 March 2026. The route follows the Wicklow Way from Lough Tay to Crone Woods and back.
Course Information
The race covers a distance of 22 km with a total climb of 840 meters. It is part of the Leinster Half-Marathon League. The terrain is marked as easy, and the route is fully waymarked with yellow arrows. GPS devices are allowed.
There is a cut-off point at the Crone Woods halfway mark. Runners must reach this point within 2 hours of the start. Participants who miss the cut-off will be marked as Did Not Finish (DNF) and must return to the start on their own.
Mandatory Equipment
All runners must bring specific mandatory kit, classified as Level B. This includes a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket or bivvy bag. The specific items to be carried during the race will be confirmed on the day based on conditions. Kit checks may be conducted.
Registration and Logistics
Registration opens on 16 February 2026 and closes on 8 March 2026. The entry fee is €20, and the participant limit is 320. On race day, registration opens at 7:45 AM and closes at 9:15 AM. A race briefing is at 9:25 AM, with the start at 9:30 AM.
The event uses Piergates car park, located approximately 5 km from Roundwood village. Car parking fees apply and must be paid by card. Carpooling is encouraged to reduce the number of vehicles.
Additional Information
The event serves as the trial race for the Trail de Guerledan in France in June 2026, offering a development opportunity for senior athletes. Prizes are awarded for the top three male and female finishers at the finish line. There are no age category prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
