Wicklow Glacier Lakes (Solo)

The Wicklow Glacier Lakes (Solo) is a mountain running event held in County Wicklow. The course covers a total distance of 42.70 km and includes a total ascent of 1783 meters. This is an open mountain race that visits several high lakes in the region. The route is not marked, and participants are required to have experience in navigation. The use of GPS devices for navigation is not permitted during the event.

The race utilizes a chasing start system where time bonuses are applied based on the age and gender of the participants. These bonuses determine the specific starting order. Mandatory safety equipment, classified as Level C (Advanced), is required for all runners. This kit includes a waterproof jacket with an integrated hood and taped seams, waterproof full leg cover, a hat or buff, gloves, and a whistle. Participants must also carry a foil blanket or bivvy bag, a map of the route and area, a compass, emergency food, and a mobile phone.

Runners are responsible for carrying a minimum of 500 mL of water. Cut-off times are enforced at specific checkpoints along the route to ensure participant safety. Registration and the starting line are located on the road directly in front of the Glendalough Hotel. There are no pre-registration qualification requirements for this event.
