Event Information
The Wicked Spooky 5k & Creepy Crawly Climb takes place on Saturday, October 31, 2026, in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. The event starts and finishes at Wicked Weed's Funkatorium on Coxe Avenue on Asheville's South Slope.
Distances & Features
The event includes two race distances:
- Wicked Spooky 5k: A timed 5k road race.
- Creepy Crawly Kids Climb: A children's event added for 2026, covering approximately 0.25 mile on Coxe Avenue.
5k race registration includes a long-sleeve race shirt, a finisher medal, chip timing, and a donation to the nonprofit MountainTrue. Participants aged 21 and over receive a choice of a Wicked Weed craft beer or a non-alcoholic beverage after the race.
The children's climb registration is a flat fee and includes a finisher medal and race bib. Parents are allowed to run with their children during this event.

Awards & Costumes
Awards are given for the 5k across multiple categories, including top overall male, female, and non-binary runners, masters, grand masters, and age groups. Prizes include gift certificates to a local running company and pumpkins. There is also a costume contest with prizes for creative costumes. Virtual runners are not eligible for awards.
Logistics & Policies
Early packet pickup is available on the Friday before the race at the Funkatorium. Race day packet pickup begins at 8:00 AM.
Strollers are permitted on the race course. Dogs are allowed at the brewery's outdoor areas but are not permitted to run with participants during the race, except for pre-approved service animals.
The event has a no-refund policy. Registration can be transferred to another person, a different distance, or to a virtual option up to five days before the event. A virtual participation option is available, where the race swag (shirt, medal, and bib) is mailed after the event (US shipping only).
Beneficiary & Sponsors
A portion of the race proceeds is donated to MountainTrue, a nonprofit focused on forests, waters, and communities in the Southern Blue Ridge. Major sponsors include Wicked Weed Brewing (host), MountainTrue (nonprofit partner), The Runners Mechanic, and Mountain Running Company.
