WHPD 5k (for Special Olympics Florida)
The WHPD 5k is a charitable run and walk hosted by the Winter Haven Police Department in Central Park, Winter Haven, FL. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Special Olympics Florida, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization. The course runs in downtown Winter Haven, beginning in the area of the library and continuing around Lake Silver. The entry fee includes a Special Olympics Torch Run t shirt in either cotton or dry fit, and all 5k participants receive a finisher medal. Walking the 5k is permitted. The event takes place rain or shine and refunds are not issued for registered participants who do not attend.
Packet pick up is scheduled the day before at the Winter Haven Library, 325 Ave. A NW, and there is a day of packet pick up at the same location. Parking is available at the Winter Haven Parking Garage on the corner of 3rd St. NW and Ave. A NW; participants are asked not to park around Central Park between Ave. A NW and Central Ave. A virtual option is offered for those unable to attend in person. Virtual registrants may choose an in person packet pick up or a mailed packet, with a small fee to offset shipping. A child category for ages 5 and under is listed without shirt or medal.
