Event details

The White Pine Solstice Runs take place on June 20, 2026, in Tooele, Utah, in the Oquirrh Mountains. Courses run on single-track, dirt roads, double-track, and some off-trail sections, and visit multiple mountain summits and overlooks. Parts of the courses reach high elevation: about 8 miles are above 9,000 ft and about 2 miles are above 10,000 ft on the longest route. Lightning, rain, hail, and snow are possible at those elevations. The event is USATF sanctioned. Organizers recommend carrying adequate hydration, food, and gear for inclement weather.

55k Course

The 55k is listed at about 34 miles with roughly 12,500 ft of total vertical gain. The route uses single-track and ridgelines and visits Butterfield Pass, the Kennecott Mine Overlook, Butterfield Peak East, White Pine Peak, Tooele Peak, Kelsey Peak, and Settlement Canyon. Terrain breakdown: single-track 52%, dirt roads 25%, off-trail 19%, double-track 4%. Aid stations: Butterfield Pass (miles 3 and 8.2) and Settlement Canyon (mile 21.5). Climbs noted: three climbs of about 2,150 ft, 1,600 ft, and 1,550 ft, plus a 4,900 ft climb from Settlement Canyon to the finish. Hard cutoffs: mile 21.5 - 9 hours; mile 34 - 14.5 hours.

Half-Marathon Course

The half-marathon is 13.9 miles with about 3,700 ft of vertical gain. The out-and-back route reaches Butterfield Pass, the Oquirrh Mine Overlook, and Butterfield Peak East. Terrain: single-track 44%, dirt roads 50%, double-track 6%. Aid station: Butterfield Pass (miles 3 and 8.2). Hard cutoff: mile 13.9 - 4.5 hours.

8.5 Mile Course

The 8.5 Mile course is about 8.5 miles with roughly 2,500 ft of vertical gain. The route goes to Butterfield Pass, Butterfield Peak East, and returns down White Pine Canyon. Terrain: single-track 70%, dirt roads 21%, double-track 9%. Hard cut-off: mile 8.7 - 3 hours. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
