Whispering Pines
Whispering Pines is a 12-hour trail endurance event in Inverness, FL, organized by A1 Ultra Events at Whispering Pines City Park, pavilion near Parking Lot B and the playground (1700 Forest Drive). The event is free and donation-supported; donations help cover park rental, insurance, and aid station supplies, with any remaining funds donated to the park.
Key distances and thresholds:
- 12-hour event duration
- 5 mile loop course
- 10 miles (2 loops) required for a finisher award
The course is a mix of single-track and double-track trails. Surfaces include packed sand and pine needles, with gentle hills and extensive tree cover. Each loop crosses two paved park roads; the course will be marked with arrows and orange flagging ribbon. Because many trails intersect, participants are advised to pay attention to markings to stay on course.
An aid station will be located at the Start/Finish area offering standard trail food and drinks. Participants may bring items to share as part of a communal potluck. A timing crew monitors laps; participants should check in with timing staff after each loop and report their plans.
The event capacity is 185 runners. Registration opens November 1, 2026. Overnight stays inside Whispering Pines Park are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
