Whinlatter Forest Half Marathon and 10K
The event takes place on Sunday 24 May 2026 in Whinlatter Forest, Lake District. Runs start on the north side and finish on the south side of Whinlatter Forest.
Event distances
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles, significant elevation and panoramic views
- 10K Trail Run 6.2 miles, challenging terrain suitable for intermediate runners
The routes follow firm trail paths and include steep climbs and fast descents. The course passes viewpoints with panoramas of Bassenthwaite Lake, Keswick, Skiddaw and Derwentwater. The event is described as technical and scenic.
Canicross is allowed. One controlled dog per participant is permitted and dogs must remain on a lead at all times.
Timing is by live chip timing operated by Timing Up North, with real-time results and accurate finish times. All finishers receive a bespoke finisher's medal, event merchandise, a beer or soft drink and a snack. A custom event T shirt is available as an add on for £12.
Subsidised parking is available on site and is paid after the event at Forestry England pay machines. Entry prices listed are £27 for the 10K and £30 for the half marathon. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
