Whinlatter Forest Half Marathon & 10K - 24 May 2026
The event takes place in Whinlatter Forest in the Lake District on Sunday 24 May 2026 and offers two off-road distances on forest trails. Runs start on the north side of Whinlatter and finish on the south side.
- 13.1 miles Half Marathon trail run
- 6.2 miles 10K trail run
The routes use firm trail paths with steep climbs and fast descents. Runners can expect panoramic views over Bassenthwaite Lake, Keswick, Skiddaw and Derwentwater. The course is described as technical in places and includes sections of uneven terrain and rugged hills.
The event is canicross friendly. One controlled dog per participant is allowed and dogs must remain on a lead at all times. Timing is by live chip timing provided by Timing Up North, with real-time results available.
All finishers receive a bespoke finisher's medal, Wild Deer merchandise, a drink and a snack. There is a £150 bonus for any new half marathon records with listed target times M 1:19:48 and F 1:44:10. A custom event T shirt is available as an optional extra for £12. Subsidised parking is available on site and is paid after the event at Forestry England pay machines.
