Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Tails

Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Tails is a trail event held at Whinlatter on 6 December 2026 as part of Season 5 of the Lakeland Paws series. The series includes nine events, all following the same format with individual starts so each dog has space at the start. Courses combine forest roads and trails and will be marked; the event is chip timed and GPX files are available.

There are two route options offered on the Seat How route when available. The organiser reserves the right to switch to an alternative Whinlatter course if forest works prevent use of the Seat How route.

Course options:

  • 8K (5 miles) loop with 360 m ascent, reaches the summit of Seat How.
  • 5K (3 miles) route with 240 m ascent, joins the second half of the longer course.

On the Seat How route some sections are narrower and steeper; only one dog per runner is permitted on that route and dogs must be run on a suitable harness. Runners may take part without dogs. Entry opens 27 April 2026 and closes 5 December 2026. Minimum age is 16 and the published entry fee is £20. The event is marked and chip timed; participants can download GPX files. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
