Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Tails
This is an event in Season 5 of the Lakeland Paws series, based at Whinlatter. The course surfaces are a mix of forest roads and trails. Organisers plan to use the Seat How route but reserve the right to switch to another Whinlatter course if forest works prevent access.
There are two loop options:
- 8K (5 mile) loop with 360 m (1200 ft) of ascent reaching the summit of Seat How.
- 5K (3 mile) route with 240 m (800 ft) of ascent that joins the second half of the longer loop.
On the Seat How route some sections are narrower and steeper; in those places only one dog per runner is permitted and dogs must be run on a suitable harness. Runners may also compete without dogs. The course will be marked and the event is chip timed. GPX files are available for download. The event listing gives an age minimum of 16 and shows the entry fee as £20.
