Event Overview
The Whidbey Island Marathon is a coastal destination event taking place in Oak Harbor, Washington. The marathon distance is a point-to-point race that begins at the Bowman Bay Boat Launch and concludes at Windjammer Park. This specific route includes a crossing of the Deception Pass Bridge.
Distances and Course Information
The event offers several race distances to accommodate different preferences:
- Marathon: 26.2 miles, point-to-point course.
- Half Marathon: 13.1 miles, start and finish at Windjammer Park.
- 10K: 10 km run or walk.
- 5K: 5 km run or walk.
- 1K Kids Run: A loop located within Windjammer Park.
The 1K Kids Run is timed to begin after the conclusion of the 5K race. Parents are permitted to accompany their children during the loop without needing to register themselves. For those unable to attend in person, virtual options are available for all distances. Virtual participants complete their selected distance at a location of their choice and receive a race packet containing a shirt, medal, and bib by mail.
Location and Logistics
The primary hub for the event is Windjammer Park, located at 1600 SW Beeksma Dr in Oak Harbor. This site serves as the finish line for all distances and the start line for the Half Marathon, 10K, 5K, and 1K events. Packet pickup and late registration are held at the Windjammer Park Interpretive Center on the day preceding the races. A celebration is held at the park at the conclusion of the events.
