Event Overview
The Bulldog 5K Sleigh Ride Fun Run/Walk is a community event held in Mount Vernon, Washington. Participants navigate a 5 km course around the Del Trail at the Skagit Playfields. This trail is named in honor of Jess del Bosque, a long-time distance coach at Mount Vernon High School.
The event includes two categories:
- 5 km Fun Run/Walk
- 5 km Sleigh Ride specifically for current MVHS XC team members
Participant Experience
The event features a festive atmosphere where participants receive a Santa hat and a T-shirt, provided they register by the designated deadline in mid-December. At the start of the race, a team of "reindeer," formed by high school cross country runners, leads the group of "Santas." Ornament medals are awarded to the top finishers within each age group upon completion of the course.
Support and Amenities
Proceeds from the registration fees benefit the Non-School District Mount Vernon Athletic Fund, specifically supporting student runners attending cross country summer camp. After finishing the 5 km route, water and hot drinks are available for all attendees. Check-in for the event takes place on-site on the morning of the run at the Skagit Playfields location. The event is supported by local community sponsors and functions as a fundraiser for local youth athletic programs. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
