Event

The Smokestack Out'N Back is a 5K run held on January 1, 2026, at Hamilton Landing Park in Stanwood, Washington. The course follows county roads and the Port Susan Trail, with the historic smokestack visible along the route. The event uses chip timing. Every participant receives a commemorative finisher medal. Awards are given to the top male, female, and kid finishers, with age group recognition for 13–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49, 50–59, 60–69, 70–79, and 80+.

Details and logistics

The event is described as family-friendly; children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Non-registered family members may participate informally but will not receive a medal or be entered in the participant drawing. Leashed dogs are permitted on the course. An optional cold plunge station is available at the finish area. Registrations are non-refundable.

Parking at Hamilton Landing Park is limited. On-site double parking is available with volunteer direction. Overflow parking options include The Cookie Mill (9808 WA-532) and Coastal Community Bank (9818 WA-532). Additional downtown parking and a public lot are noted as an approximately 8–10 minute walk from the park.
