Tal-Y-Llyn Eliminator Swimrun
The Eliminator Swimrun is held at Tal Y Llyn on the shore of Llyn Mwyngil, within Eryri - Snowdonia National Park near Cadair Idris. The event uses laps that combine running on mostly hard surfaces with short open-water swims across the glacial ribbon lake.
Each lap measures 5.2 km, composed of 4.6 km running and 600 m swimming. Competitors may complete up to six laps for a maximum distance of 31.2 km. The lap structure includes short initial run and swim sections followed by a long running leg and a final swim.
- Lap: 5.2 km, 4.6 km run and 600 m swim
- Maximum: 6 laps, 31.2 km total
Running is generally on paving and tarmac, fairly flat with small undulations; swim exit points have very short trail sections. The 2027 course removes busy road sections. Organizers publish indicative lap times, decreasing from around 45 minutes for lap 1 to about 32 minutes for lap 5, with lap 6 described as open.
Race headquarters is at the Tyn Y Cornel Hotel. The event is affiliated with British Swimrun. Typical kit includes a wetsuit, trail running shoes, and a whistle; race bibs and swim hats are issued at registration. The event has produced course records in recent editions and awards prizes.
