Tal Y Llyn Eliminator Swimrun
The Eliminator Swimrun takes place at Tal Y Llyn on the shore of Llyn Mwyngil, in Eryri - Snowdonia National Park at the foot of Cadair Idris. The course uses the hamlet arena and lake shoreline as its base, with Race HQ at the Tyn Y Cornel Hotel (LL36 9AJ).
Each lap measures 5.2 km combining running and swimming. The event layout gives approximately 11.5% swimming in a lap, with the potential to complete up to six laps for a maximum distance of 31.2 km.
- Lap: 5.2 km (4.6 km run, 600 m swim)
- Maximum: 31.2 km (up to 6 laps)
Running sections are generally on hard surfaces such as paving and tarmac, fairly flat with small undulations; swim exit points include very short trail sections. For the 2027 course, busy road sections were removed. Organiser guidance lists lap durations decreasing from about 45 minutes for lap 1 to around 32 minutes for lap 5; lap 6 is unspecified.
The race is affiliated to British Swimrun. Recommended kit information includes wetsuit, trail running shoes and whistle; race bib and swim hat are distributed at registration. There is an option to race without a wetsuit ("skins") if conditions allow. The event record indicates that new course records were set in 2024 across male, female and team categories.
