Tal-Y-Llyn Eliminator Swimrun : Sun 27 Jun 2027
The Eliminator Swimrun takes place at Tal Y Llyn, on the shore of Llyn Mwyngil beneath Cadair Idris in Eryri / Snowdonia National Park. The event uses a lap format that combines running on hard surfaces with swims across the glacial ribbon lake.
Each lap measures 5.2 km, made up of 4.6 km running and 600 m swimming. Participants may complete up to six laps for a possible total of 31.2 km.
- One lap: 5.2 km (4.6 km run, 600 m swim)
- Up to six laps: 31.2 km total
A typical lap breakdown lists a short initial run (about 10 m), a 300 m swim, a main run of approximately 4,590 m, and a final 300 m swim. Published lap time targets indicate progressively faster laps after the first (for example: 45 min, 40 min, 36 min, 34 min, 32 min, then an open final lap).
Running is generally on paving and tarmac, fairly flat with small undulations; two swim exit points include very short trail sections. The 2027 course has removed busy road sections. Race headquarters are at The Tyn Y Cornel Hotel (LL36 9AJ).
Required or suggested kit includes a wetsuit, trail running shoes and a whistle. Race bib and swim hat are issued at registration. Experienced skins swimmers may have the option to race without a wetsuit if conditions allow. The event is affiliated with British Swimrun.
There is also a separate COOL version with water temperatures expected around 10–11 °C; date to be confirmed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
