Event overview
The West Virginia Spartan Race takes place Aug 29-30, 2026 at Summit Bechtel Reserve, North Entrance, Glen Jean, WV. The weekend is billed as a Spartan Trifecta Weekend and also features Spartan Trail Races. The venue is known for its landscapes, white-water rafting, and youth scouting programs. Obstacles and course features listed for the event include Atlas Carry (100 lb/45 kg stone; 75 lb/35 kg for female competitors), A-Frame Cargo, Barbed Wire Crawl, Fire Jump, Inverted Wall, Bucket Carry, Hercules Hoist, Multi-Rig, Rope Climb (16 ft / 4.8 m), Sandbag Carry (60 lb / 27 kg men; 40 lb / 18 kg women), Slip Wall and rolling mud pits, Spear Throw (target at 25 ft / 7.6 m), and walls ranging 4 to 8 feet. Each event may include additional obstacles designed for the location.
Additional facts: finishers receive event medals and a finisher tee; a Trifecta medal is available for completing multiple distances in the same year.
