Event Overview
The Cabin Fever 50K is a point-to-point ultramarathon of approximately 50 kilometers held in February. The route travels across New River Gorge National Park in West Virginia, starting in downtown Fayetteville and finishing at Hawks Nest State Park. It shares much of the course with the Rim to River 100 event. The course features high ridgeline single-track trails with expansive views, passes waterfalls, and descends to the banks of the New River near the New River Gorge Bridge. The event has a 10-hour cutoff time.
Registration and Details
Registration opens on October 5, 2025. The entry fee is $150 through November 5, 2025, and increases to $175 from November 5 to February 10, 2026. The race has a capacity of 300 runners. A free shuttle service is offered from the finish line at Hawks Nest State Park back to the start in Fayetteville on race morning; participants must register for the shuttle in advance.
Race Weekend Schedule
Check-in and a prize raffle are held the day before the race at the ACE Adventure Resort. A pre-race meeting follows. On race day, additional check-in is available at ACE Adventure Gear in downtown Fayetteville before the start.
What's Included
Four fully stocked aid stations are located along the course. All finishers within the time limit receive a custom finisher medal. Awards are given to the top 10 male and female finishers. Participants registered by December 21, 2025, will receive a custom race shirt. The event is a qualifier for the Western States 100.
Policies
A 100% refund is available until December 21, 2025. Requests for deferrals, rollovers, or partial refunds after that date are considered on an individual basis for circumstances such as serious illness or family death.

Proceeds from the event help fund Adventure Appalachia, a non-profit organization that works to expand access to outdoor adventure experiences in the New River Gorge region. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
