Falling Water Ultras
The Falling Water Ultras use a looped course at ACE Adventure Resort with sections inside New River Gorge National Park. The 100K is four 25K loops (about 15.5 miles each). Each loop follows trails beside Rush Run and Arbuckle Creek, passes multiple waterfalls, runs along the New River, and includes a creek crossing that requires rock hopping. Each loop includes about 2,400 feet of elevation gain and loss.
While out on each 15.5 mile loop, runners must carry their own food and fuel. Hydration stations with water and Hyperlyte Liquid Performance are placed near the 5 and 10 mile points of each loop. A fully stocked aid station is available at the start and finish area, with access for crew and nearby campsite or vehicle.
Event categories include:
- 100K solo four 25K (15.5 mile) loops
- 50K solo two 25K loops
- 100K two person relay each runs two 25K loops
- 100K four person relay each runs one 25K loop
Solo 100K runners may use a pacer for the final loop. Cutoffs are 24 hours for the 100K and 12 hours for the 50K. Registered entrants by March 15 receive a custom race tee. Finishers receive event-specific awards and items, and registration includes a campsite for Friday and Saturday at the start and finish area. Full refunds are offered through February 1; later deferrals or partial refunds are considered on a case by case basis. Proceeds support the Adventure Appalachia nonprofit.
