Falling Water Ultras - Event overview

Falling Water Ultras is a trail ultra held at ACE Adventure Resort and in parts of New River Gorge National Park, West Virginia on April 25, 2026. The event offers solo and relay formats and includes on-site camping at the Start/Finish area for the race weekend. Registration opens December 14, 2025. Proceeds support Adventure Appalachia, a nonprofit that funds outdoor programs in the New River Gorge region.

Course and race format

The course is four loops of about 15.5 miles each. Each loop includes roughly 2,400 feet of elevation gain and 2,400 feet of loss and follows trails that include Rush Run, Arbuckle Creek, and sections along the New River. The route contains a creek crossing at Arbuckle Creek with rock-hopping sections. Runners must carry their own food and fuel while on each loop. Hydration stations with water and Gnarly Fuel2-O are placed near the 5- and 10-mile points of each loop. Solo 100K entrants may use a pacer for the final loop. The solo 100K has a 24-hour cutoff and the solo 50K has a 12-hour cutoff.

Entry, fees and awards

Early and standard entry fees vary by distance and registration date. All entrants registered by March 1 receive a custom RECOVER Brands tee. Solo 100K finishers receive a custom belt buckle. Solo 50K and relay finishers receive a custom medal. Awards are given to the top three finishers in each category. Refunds are available in full until February 1; later deferrals or partial refunds are considered case by case. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
