Welshpool 10k
The Welshpool 10k is a community road race of 10 km held in Welshpool, Powys. The event is a one-lap route that starts and finishes in the town centre on fully closed roads. The course passes along Welshpool High Street, Berriew Road, Red Lane and through the Powis Estate, including a section by Powis Castle. Race HQ and the start/finish are at 42 Broad Street, Welshpool, SY21 7JQ. The race village is close to local car parks, shops, cafes and a nearby park.
Road closures are used during the event and marshals manage the course for runner safety. Spectators are asked to remain off the route until runners have passed and to follow marshal instructions. The organiser’s published race cut-off time is 90 minutes; roads will reopen in line with that pace and participants who fall behind may be asked to withdraw for safety reasons.
Facilities at the finish include water and a finishers medal for those who complete the course. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers and to 14 age-group winners (seven female and seven male). Donated proceeds from the event go to Parkinson’s UK.
