Welshpool 10K
The Welshpool 10K is a town-centre road race held in Welshpool, Powys. The event uses a one-lap, undulating course that starts and finishes in the town centre on fully closed roads and includes a route that passes Powis Castle. The Race HQ and start/finish are based at 42 Broad Street, Welshpool, SY21 7JQ and are a short walk from several town centre car parks.
The event brings together a mixed community of participants, from nervous first-timers to competitive runners. Organisers operate a 90 minute race cut off and roads are reopened progressively in line with that pace. The race village is close to local parks, shops, cafes and eateries. At the finish line runners receive water and a finishers medal, and overall awards are given to the top three male and top three female finishers plus 14 age-group winners (seven female and seven male).
Spectators are asked to stay off the course until runners have passed and to follow marshal instructions; the route has good pavement coverage for viewing. Designated public car parks used for the event include the Berriew Road car park (Welshpool SY21 7SS) and the town centre public car park (Welshpool SY21 7DD). The event lists Parkinsons UK as a charity partner. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
