About the race
The Gazley Volkswagen Wellington Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 4 July 2027 and marks the event's 40th anniversary. Race day hub and all race activities are at Hnry Stadium, with the start and finish on the Fran Wilde Walkway. Distances offered include:
- 42K full marathon
- 21K half marathon
- 10K
- Kids' Magic Mile
Race pack pick-up is held at Gazley Volkswagen, 38 Kent Terrace, Wellington City, the day before the race. Race packs include the programme, race number, timing chip, any purchased T-shirts and pre-purchased stadium parking tickets; late entries are accepted at pick-up. Every finisher receives a medal at the finish.
Course notes: the full marathon has a cut-off at the end of the first lap (22k); participants who do not meet that cut-off may complete the event as half marathoners. Course descriptions, maps and drink station information are provided by the organisers.
On race day there is a free shuttle bus between the CBD and Hnry Stadium. Hnry Stadium car parking is by pre-purchased ticket only and is collected at race pack pick-up. Secure gear storage, toilets and showers are available inside the stadium. First aid is provided at the stadium and at aid stations on the course. Pace teams are offered for the half marathon with listed time goals and identifiable pace leaders. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
