Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon
The Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon is a short-course multisport event held at Long Pond in Wellfleet on June 6, 2026. The race serves as a major fundraiser for WOMR, a non-profit community radio station serving Outer Cape Cod, and is USAT sanctioned; participants must have an annual or one-day USA Triathlon membership.
The race course includes a swim in a calm kettle pond, a bike route through roads inside the Cape Cod National Seashore, and a run with expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean. There are relay team options for two- and three-person teams in male, female and mixed divisions. Awards are presented to the top three competitors in each age group across gender categories, plus First-Timers and relay teams.
Practical details include limited on-site parking on race day; participants and spectators must use parking at Wellfleet’s First Congregational Church and then walk or bike to the start/finish at Long Pond. Packet pickup is available the day before and on race morning; participants must present photo ID and proof of USAT membership. Bikes will not be released from transition until all participants have completed the bike course. E-bikes of any kind are not permitted. A virtual participation option is offered for those who cannot race in person. Registration for the in-person race is sold out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
