Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon
The Wellfleet Sprint Triathlon is a community fundraising event held at Long Pond on the outskirts of Wellfleet, within the Cape Cod National Seashore. The race benefits WOMR, a non profit community radio station serving Outer Cape Cod, and uses a sprint distance format.
Distances:
- 1/4 mile swim
- 10 mile bike
- 5K run
The swim takes place in a calm kettle pond, the bike course follows undulating roads inside the Cape Cod National Seashore, and the run provides expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean. Relay options are offered for two or three person teams, and a virtual participation option is available for those who cannot attend in person.
Logistics note that there is no parking at the event venue on race day; participants and spectators must park at Wellfleet’s First Congregational Church and then walk or cycle to Long Pond. Day before the race, parking at the race venue is allowed for packet pick up. Packet pick up is available the evening before and on race morning; all participants must present photo identification and proof of USA Triathlon membership. Relay team members must pick up their own packets.
This is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. One day Bronze or annual USAT membership is required and one day event insurance fees apply. Awards are presented to the top three in each age group by gender category and to First Timers and relay teams. Results are posted within 24 hours.
