GutCheck Cape Cod (September 19, 2026) at Nickerson State Park
GutCheck Cape Cod is a point-to-point adventure race inside Nickerson State Park in Brewster, Massachusetts. The course combines trail running, road cycling, navigation and one or more water crossings. The exact course layout is different each year and is announced shortly before the event.
Competitors may enter solo or in teams of two, three or four. Team members must remain in close contact and finish together. The event includes decision-making on the course as well as physical sections that require scrambling over terrain.
Distances and expected effort:
- Trail running: 4-6 miles
- Road cycling: 5-10 miles with hills
- Swimming: up to 1500 total yards, with no more than four swim segments and each segment 1/2 mile or less
- Paddling: up to 1.5 miles total across multiple ponds
Practical details: athletes need a road bike and helmet (mountain bikes are allowed), swimmers may use a drybag or swim buoy for shoes, and paddlers need a board with a leash. A limited number of rental boards will be available to reserve through the athlete account. Water and nutrition are provided at 6 to 10 checkpoints. Water temperatures are typically in the upper 60s to low 70s. All participants must be 18 or older. Awards are given for male and female solo categories, age groups, and team categories.
