About the race
The Welles Remy Crowanna Red Bandanna 5k is an annual run at Boston College organized by the Volunteer and Service Learning Center within the Division of Mission and Ministry to honor a 9/11 hero. The 2026 edition is the 22nd running and will be offered as an in-person event open to all, with a virtual option for participants who prefer to run remotely. Both in-person and virtual participants must register by Wednesday, October 21, 2026. Race-day check-in and limited race-day registration are handled on the Boston College Chestnut Hill campus at Gasson Hall, and the course starts in front of the Gasson Hall Eagle.
The Chestnut Hill campus is accessible by public transit and offers parking in the Commonwealth Avenue Garage for a fee. A course map is available for reference. The event receives support from multiple campus departments and student athletic programs, including campus dining, campus police, athletics, the campus bookstore, transportation and parking, the Office of Community and Governmental Affairs, the University mission and ministry service center, and several varsity teams and student volunteers. Media from past years document participation by alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
