Wellen Park Half Marathon & 5K
The Wellen Park Half Marathon & 5K is an annual event held in Venice, Florida. The races start and finish at Solis Hall in Downtown Wellen Park. The event features two primary distances:
- Half Marathon
- 5K
The half marathon course is flat, fully paved, and USATF certified. It includes aid stations approximately every 2 miles providing water, isotonic drinks, and energy gels. Participants in this distance have a time limit of 3 hours and 30 minutes. Split timing is recorded at the 10K mark.
The 5K course is also flat and fully paved, including a water station near the midpoint. This race is open to runners and walkers of all levels, and the use of strollers or leashed dogs is permitted, provided they start at the back of the pack for safety.
All finishers in both the 5K and the half marathon receive a medal upon crossing the finish line. Awards are presented for top overall finishers and across various age groups, ranging from youth categories to those over 80. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Suncoast.
Participants can pick up their race materials at Solis Hall during designated times in the days leading up to the race or on the morning of the event. Parking is available throughout the downtown area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
