Weald Challenge - Chiddingly, Sussex

The Weald Challenge is a trail half marathon held in June from Chiddingly Primary School, Muddles Green, East Sussex BN8 6HN. The route follows the Wealdway outward and returns on the Vanguard Way, mostly on public footpaths and bridleways, with a small total of road sections amounting to about 2.8 miles. The organisers note the course is now about 22.2m, around 1.1k longer than a standard half marathon.

There are two checkpoints: Newplace Park at 5.6 miles (9 km) and Scallow Bridge at 10.2 miles (16.1 km). Water, bananas and oranges are provided at both checkpoints and at the finish. The event is chip timed with three waves five minutes apart and awards are based on chip time. A time limit of five hours applies.

The event is organised by Uckfield Runners under England Athletics rules with Trail Running Association permit number 8298. Entry is limited to 400 competitors and the minimum age is 17 years on race day. Finishers receive a bespoke handmade coffee mug and a finishers medal unless they choose the Meals Not Medals option, which donates £4 to Uckfield Foodbank. First aid, refreshments at the finish, on-course signage and free parking adjacent to race HQ are provided. Bone conducting headphones only are permitted and dogs are not allowed. Course conditions include uneven ground, steps, 16 stiles, possible mud and potential livestock on fields. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
