The We Need To Talk About Chevin trail race takes place on the Chevin in Otley, West Yorkshire. It is categorized as a BM fell race, with a total climb of approximately 650 meters over a 14 km (9 mile) distance.

Course Description

The single-lap course starts on Station Road. The first climb begins immediately, heading up to Surprise View. The route continues down to The West Gate, climbs again, and proceeds to the Danefield climb. It then descends to a loop of Poolscar Wood. The route reaches its easternmost point at The Fells Plantation, where runners climb alongside power lines before returning to Chevin Forest Park. The final section involves a climb up Miller Lane, followed by a descent down Jonny Lane back to Station Road, where the race finishes.

Event Facilities

Race registration and post-race refreshments are provided at The Black Horse pub, which features a courtyard. A baggage store is available at the Race HQ, located at Station Top Car Park in Otley (opposite Otley Auction Market). The organizers note there are no water stations, distance markers, toilets, changing facilities, or showers on the course.

Entry Information

Entry fees vary: £12.00 for affiliated runners, £14.00 for unaffiliated runners, and £17.00-£19.00 for the "Trees Not Tees" option. There is a limit of 200 participants, with entry on the day available for an additional £2.00 if the event does not sell out. The race is not suitable for wheelchairs.
