WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon : Whitewater Center
The WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon is a trail running event at the Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC, held on October 2, 2027. The event uses multiple laps of the venue’s trail system and offers two distance options:
- 50 miles
- 50K
Each lap includes significant elevation gain, listed as +821/1147 ft per lap. Organizers provide packet pick-up the day before the race and a race information document with details on the course, aid stations, support rules and other logistics. Pre-registration deadlines and fees are published; pre-registration pricing is available through September 30, 2027, with higher day-of registration fees.
Aid stations supply a variety of items including salty snacks, cookies, candy, fruit, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, boiled potatoes, soft drinks, water, salt and Powerade. Runners are advised to carry a personal hydration source. An operating headlamp or illuminated device is required at the start and must be carried until past sunrise.
Drop bags are allowed at the Start/Finish aid station only; bags must be labeled and dropped before the race. Drop bags will not be refrigerated and the event is not responsible for lost or damaged bags. Pacers are permitted only for 50-mile solo runners and only for their final lap; pacers must check in, sign a waiver and wear a bib. Crews may provide assistance only at the Start/Finish ridge pavilion and must follow event staff instructions.
Finishers receive custom awards: belt buckles for 50-mile finishers and medals for 50K finishers. Top three overall male and female finishers in each distance receive awards. Other policies include a required waiver, non-refundable registration, trails open to public users, rain or shine scheduling, a daily parking fee and emergency response instructions to call 911.
