WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon
The WC-50 Ultra Trail Marathon is an ultra trail event held on the Whitewater Center trail system in Charlotte, NC. The course consists of several laps of the center’s looped trail network and is offered in two distance options.
- 50 miles
- 50K
The event notes ascent per lap listed as +821 to +1147 ft. Aid stations along the course will offer a mix of salty snacks, cookies, candy, fruit, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, boiled potatoes, soft drinks, water, salt, Powerade and limited energy gels; actual items may vary by station and time of day. Participants are advised to carry a personal source of hydration.
All athletes must have an operating headlamp or illuminated device at the start and keep it until past sunrise. Drop bags are allowed only at the Start/Finish aid station; they must be dropped prior to the race start on Saturday morning, clearly marked, and picked up the same Saturday night. Drop bags will not be refrigerated.
Pacers are permitted only for solo 50 mile runners and only for the final lap; 50K runners may not use pacers. Pacers must check in, wear a provided bib, and follow event staff directions. Crews may provide physical support only at the Start/Finish aid station at the ridge pavilion; moral support is allowed elsewhere but physical assistance is prohibited outside the designated area.
Registration includes pre-registration and day-of options with posted fees and registration deadlines. Race shirts and specific finisher awards are guaranteed only for participants who register by the stated pre-registration deadlines. Finishers receive a custom item; 50 mile finishers receive belt buckles and 50K finishers receive medals. Top three overall male and female finishers in each distance receive awards.
