Waynesville Sunrise Rotary Turkey Trot
The Waynesville Sunrise Rotary Turkey Trot is a community 5K held at Lake Junaluska Conference & Retreat Center in Lake Junaluska, North Carolina on Thanksgiving Day. The event uses a clockwise loop course that starts and finishes at Weldon Gym and includes one water station along the route.
Online registration opens on Wednesday, July 8 and closes on Monday, November 23 or earlier if the event sells out. Race capacity has been increased to 800 participants. Entry fees are tiered by date: adult fees are $30 through October 31 and $35 after that date; youth fees for ages 12 and under are $15 through October 31 and $20 after that date. Fees listed for online registration do not include service charges or taxes charged by the registration platform.
Packet pickup is available the day before at Bosu Wine Shop and on race day at Weldon Gym. Pre-registered runners who register on or before Wednesday, November 3 are guaranteed a shirt in their size; after that date shirts are based on availability. Race bibs contain timing chips and should be worn on the front for accurate timing.
The event permits children in strollers and well behaved leashed dogs; participants pushing strollers or running with dogs are asked to start toward the back of the field. Awards include overall and Masters prizes plus age group awards for multiple age brackets. The event follows a no refund policy and allows registration transfers for a $2 processing fee if completed by Monday, November 23. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
