Daniel's Race
Daniel's Race is a nonprofit 5K running event held on August 14, 2027 at Churchville-Chili Middle School, 139 Fairbanks Rd, Churchville, NY 14428. The event raises funds for families facing childhood medical difficulties and for organizations that support children with serious illnesses.
Proceeds from the event are donated to a family or organization that helps children with life-threatening illness and to Golisano Children's Hospital. The event also supports a scholarship for Churchville Chili High School seniors. The race began in 2005 in remembrance of a teenager who died from melanoma at age 16; that individual ran in the first race and died four months later. The event has continued annually with community support and aims to raise awareness of melanoma.
Registration opens November 1, 2026 and closes on August 14, 2027. The registration fee is $35. Pre-registration includes eligibility for a free T-shirt for the first 100 participants or until two weeks before the race. Participants who register up to two weeks before the race may pick up their bib and free shirt the day before at Rochester Running Company, 1387 Mount Hope Ave, Rochester, NY 14620; pre-registration packet pickup is available only on Friday, August 8, from 12:00 to 18:00.
