Daniel's Race
Daniel's Race is a community running event held in Churchville, New York. The event centers on a 5 km (5K) running race that takes place at the Churchville-Chili Middle School. This competition serves as a fundraiser organized by a non-profit entity to assist families dealing with childhood medical challenges and life-threatening illnesses.
The history of the event dates back to 2005, when it was established to support a local student. Since then, the race has continued annually to raise awareness for Melanoma. Proceeds from the event are distributed to selected families in need, Golisano's Children's Hospital, and a scholarship program designated for Churchville Chili High School seniors.
Participants have the opportunity to pre-register for the event. Those who register at least two weeks in advance or are among the first 100 participants are eligible for a commemorative T-shirt. Logistics for the race include packet pickup options at the Rochester Running Company on Mount Hope Avenue the day prior to the event for those who meet the early registration deadline. On the morning of the event, registration and check-in services are available on-site at the school grounds regardless of weather conditions.
The course utilizes the grounds of the Churchville-Chili Middle School at 139 Fairbanks Road. The event attracts community support to maintain its mission of medical charity and health awareness. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
