The event is the 13th annual Get Outdoors 6.6k held at Watkins Mill State Park in Lawson, Missouri on September 26, 2026. The course is a certified trail loop around the 100-acre Williams Creek Lake that runs through forested paths with fall foliage.
The distance for this year is 6.6 km; a bridge closure has resulted in the course being 6.6 kilometers instead of 6 kilometers. The event offers both an in person 6.6K Run and a 6.6K Virtual Run. Registration opens May 31, 2026 and closes September 16, 2026.
Registration fees are tiered: $35 for early registrations through September 16 which includes a shirt; $40 after September 16 without a shirt; $45 on race day without a shirt; $30 for children ages 5 to 12 for the full package if registered before September 16; children under 5 may participate without a package at no charge.
Each race package includes a 6.6k event T-shirt, race bib, finisher's medal, and two guided tour passes to experience the Watkins Woolen Mill and Home. Packet pick-up is available Friday, September 25 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Woodneath Library Center, 8900 NE Flintlock Rd, Kansas City, MO 64157, and on race morning at Watkins Mill State Park, 26600 Park Road North, Lawson, MO 64062.
