8th Annual WaterMel Run Walk 5k - Lewes, DE
The event is an annual 5K run and walk held in Lewes, Delaware on Sunday, August 2, 2026. It supports the MAR-DEL Watermelon Association and includes both a general 5K run/walk and a separate COMPETITIVE WALKING 5K. Day-of-race registration is available and registration periods have tiered fees that change before the event date.

Amenities include guaranteed tee shirts for pre-registered participants, watermelon slices at the finish line, a watermelon eating contest, alcoholic "Crushes" for participants age 21 and over, and food and beer for those 21 and over. Additional post-race party tickets are offered.
The event uses chip timing with the MYLAPS BibTag system and posts results online during and after the race. Awards follow a watermelon theme: top overall male and female and masters are scored by gun time; other age group awards use chip (net) time. Prizes include age-group awards, top walkers, and an award for the largest team.
Event policies note that bibs are non-transferable, no refunds are issued, and no dogs are allowed due to insurance liability. A mapped course and race photos are provided by the organizer after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
