8th Annual WaterMel Run Walk 5k
The 8th Annual WaterMel Run Walk 5k is scheduled for August 2, 2026 in Lewes, Delaware at American Legion Post 17 on American Legion Road. Day of race registration is available. The course route is published online through Plotaroute.
The event offers a standard 5K run/walk and a separate Competitive Walking 5K. Early registration pricing is listed at $33.70 and a later registration fee is listed at $39.03. Additional post race party tickets are offered for $12.40. Competitive Walking entrants must walk the entire race; running or jogging is not allowed in that category.
Event policies note that no dogs are allowed due to insurance liability, bibs are non-transferable, and registrations are nonrefundable. Tee shirts are guaranteed to all pre-registered entrants. Watermelon slices will be available at the finish line and a watermelon eating contest is planned. Alcoholic watermelon drinks called "Crushes" and food and beer will be available for those age 21 and over.
Timing is provided by R2R Timing using the MYLAPS BibTag Timing System. Top finisher awards for overall male and female and overall masters are scored by gun time; other age groups are scored by chip (net) time. Awards include top finishers, age group placings, top walkers, and an award for the largest team. Results and event photos will be posted online after the race.
