Event overview
The 21st Race into the New Year is scheduled for Wednesday, December 31, 2025 in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Distances offered:
- 5k
- 1/4 mile (kids fun run for ages 9 and under)
The 5k is a 3.11-mile out-and-back course that starts at the bandstand on Rehoboth Avenue and runs north on the boardwalk to a turn-around near Gordon's Pond at the entrance to Cape Henlopen State Park. The kids fun run uses the boardwalk for a 200 m outbound and 200 m return to the finish line. The event benefits local charities in the Cape Region and is hosted by the Seashore Striders.
Logistics and rules
Packet pickup was added on Monday, December 30 at the bandstand on Rehoboth Avenue and the boardwalk; participants are asked to pick up shirts and bibs before race morning when possible. Long-sleeve 100% pre-shrunk cotton shirts are guaranteed to pre-registered entrants by December 23, 2025. Timing will use Chronotrack chip timing.
Registration fees listed are $25 for early registration through December 1, $30 for pre-registration through December 30, and $35 for late/race-day registration. The kids 1/4 mile is free, with no registration required and no shirt provided. Awards include overall and master male/female, plus top three finishers in five-year age groups from 9 & under to 80 & over. Parking will be on Rehoboth Avenue; meters will not be in effect. Participants must follow the marked course; bikes and non-registered "bandit" runners are not allowed. Headphones are discouraged in both ears.
