Hair of the Dog 5K and Leo Brady Polar Plunge
The Quiet Resorts Charitable Foundation organizes the 16th Annual Hair of the Dog 5K and one mile walk together with the 30th Annual Leo Brady Polar Plunge on January 1, 2027 in Bethany Beach, Delaware. Events take place along town streets and finish at the boardwalk overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Event options include:
- 5K run with chip timing and bib-mounted chips
- 1 mile walk
- Leo Brady Polar Plunge (ocean plunge, wristband required)
- Combination entries and a kids plunge
Packet pick up is available on December 31 at Mangos in Bethany Beach. Online registration closes December 30, 2026. Participants who pre-register by December 15, 2026 will receive a commemorative long sleeve tech shirt; shirt sizes are not guaranteed for later registrations. Onsite registration is available with limited availability and does not guarantee event shirts.
Race policies include rain or shine running except in cases of lightning, required signed waivers, no refunds, and a plunge conducted with lifeguards present but at participants own risk. Dogs are permitted only on the one mile walk and must be started from the back of the field; strollers should start at the back of the 5K field. The 5K awards are given in five year age groups and overall categories; recipients must be present to collect awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
