About the race
Wellington Scottish presents the Waterfront 5k as part of the 2026/27 Summer 5k series, running from 27 October 2026 to 23 March 2027. This entry-level event is a series of Tuesday evening races along Wellington’s waterfront, with Race 6 scheduled for Tuesday 23 March 2027. In-person registration and bib pickup are at Sports and Rec on Taranaki Street. Online registration is available for early races.
The entry fee is $6.50. Race bib pick up and a bag drop are provided at Sports and Rec. The course starts near the diving platform and follows the waterfront past Te Papa, across the bridge by the marina, around Clyde Quay Wharf, and onto Oriental Bay to the turnaround just past Carlton Gore Road, finishing back at the start. Marshals are positioned at the Clyde Quay Wharf turn, the traffic turnaround at the north end of Clyde Quay Wharf, and at the turnaround.
The waterfront is commonly used by beachgoers and cyclists, so participants are asked to be courteous to other users. Prize giving takes place after the race, and participants must be present and paid to be eligible for spot prizes. The series comprises multiple race dates through the season, concluding with the 23 March 2027 event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
