Water Drop 5K Run/Walk and Water Droplet Kids Run - Lafayette, IN
The event is part of Wabash Riverfest and takes place at Tapawingo Park and nearby trails in Lafayette, Indiana. The main distance is a 5K run/walk, capped at 200 participants, and there is a separate Water Droplet Kids Run.
Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled the day before at the John Dennis Wellness Center. Race-day packet pick-up and race-day registration occur at Tapawingo Park; race-day registration for the 5K closes before the last bus departs to the start line. A bus will transport 5K participants from Tapawingo Park to the race start. The last bus departs promptly to allow the event to proceed on schedule.
5K course details:
- The 5K starts on the Sagamore Trail near Duncan Road and Sagamore.
- Runners follow the Sagamore Trail, descend to the Wabash Heritage Trail at the Sagamore Bridge, run south along the Heritage Trail, briefly leave the trail to run along Canal Street toward the substation, then rejoin the Heritage Trail.
- The route continues to the ramp at the Amtrak boarding dock, crosses the pedestrian bridge toward West Lafayette, exits the bridge on the left/south side, and finishes underneath the bridge.
The Water Droplet Kids Run begins underneath the pedestrian bridge at Tapawingo Park. All proceeds will be donated to the Wabash River Enhancement Corporation to support Wabash Riverfest, environmental education, and conservation efforts.
