Grind on the Grid Backyard Ultra
The event is a Backyard Ultra held on April 17, 2027, in Wingate, IN, at 3272 East New Richmond Road. It uses a measured loop format in which runners complete repeated laps until only one runner remains.
The course is 4 miles 880 feet per loop. It is an out and back with a short grass trail loop near the end. Surfaces are approximately 0.5 mile gravel, 0.5 mile grass, and 3.167 miles of road with decent shoulders.
Loop format and race rules are specified. Each loop begins exactly one hour after the previous loop. Warnings are given at three, two, and one minutes before each start, and all competitors must start at the bell. A measured starting corral is used and remains the same size throughout the event. Competitors may not leave the course during a loop except to use restrooms. Portapotties will be available near the starting corral. Personal aid is not allowed during a loop; common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids including trekking poles are not allowed. Slower runners must allow passes. Each loop must be completed within an hour to count, including the final lap.
Organizers will track who completes each loop but will not provide official split times for individual laps. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded as DNF with distance covered reported. Tent and canopy setup is allowed the night before.
