Grind on the Grid Backyard Ultra
The Grind on the Grid Backyard Ultra is scheduled for April 17, 2027 in Wingate, IN at 3272 East New Richmond Road. The event uses the backyard ultra format in which each loop must be completed within an hour and successive loops begin on the hour.
The course is specified at 4 miles 880 feet in length. It is an out and back with a short grass trail loop toward the end. Running surfaces are approximately 0.5 mile gravel, 0.5 mile grass, and 3.167 miles of road with decent shoulders.
Starts and loop procedures are strict: each loop starts precisely one hour after the last, with warnings three, two, and one minute before the bell. All competitors must start at the bell and no late starts are allowed. Except for use of restrooms, competitors may not leave the course until a loop is completed. Portapotties will be located near the starting corral. No non competitors are allowed on the course during a loop. Personal aid during a loop is not allowed, though common aid stations are permitted. No artificial aids including trekking poles are allowed. Slower runners must allow passes.
Organizers will not officially time each individual loop but will track who finishes each loop. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded as DNF and results show distance covered. The event allows tent or canopy setup the night before. Registration is listed with a fee of USD 157.92 and closes on Thu, Apr 15 at 11:59 PM ET. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
