Grind on the Grid is a Backyard Ultra scheduled for April 17, 2027, at 3272 East New Richmond Road, Wingate, IN. Registration closes on April 15 at 11:59 PM ET. The course for a single yard is 4 miles 880 feet, arranged as four 1 mile straightaways with a short connection to the start and finish. The layout is an out and back with a short grass trail loop near the end. Running surfaces are approximately 0.5 mile gravel, 0.5 mile grass, and 3.167 miles of road with decent shoulders.
Organizers plan a measured starting corral sized for the entire field that remains the same during the event, and they are aiming for up to 100 runners. Each loop begins precisely one hour after the previous. Warnings will be given at three, two, and one minutes before each start and all competitors must start at the bell. Except for using restrooms, competitors may not leave the course until a loop is completed; portapotties will be located near the starting corral. No non competitors are allowed on the course and no personal aid is permitted during a loop, though common aid stations are allowed. Each loop must be completed within the hour to count. Organizers will track who finishes each loop but will not provide official per loop times. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded as DNF and results list distance covered. Tent and canopy setup the night before is permitted.
