Grind on the Grid Backyard Ultra - Wingate, IN
Grind on the Grid is a backyard ultra scheduled for April 17, 2027 in Wingate, IN at 3272 East New Richmond Road. Registration closes Thu, Apr 15. Organizers plan to accommodate the full starting field and are aiming for about 100 runners.
The official loop length is 4 miles 880 feet. The course is an out-and-back with a short grass trail loop near the end. Running surfaces are approximately 0.5 mile gravel, 0.5 mile grass, and 3.167 miles of road with decent shoulders.
Key event rules and procedures are stated in advance. A starting corral is measured to fit the entire field and remains the same size throughout the event; competitors must be in the corral at the bell. Each loop begins precisely one hour after the previous loop, with 3-, 2-, and 1-minute warnings before the start. All competitors must start at the bell; late starts are not allowed.
During a loop, competitors may not leave the course except for restroom use. Portapotties will be available near the starting corral. No non-competitors are allowed on the course, including eliminated runners. Personal aid during a loop is not permitted, although common aid stations are allowed. Loops must be completed within the hour to be counted, and artificial aids including trekking poles are not allowed.
Organizers will track who finishes each loop rather than providing official split timing for each runner. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded as DNF, with results reported by distance covered. Tent and canopy setup is allowed the night before the event.
