Course Information
The event takes place at 3272 East New Richmond Road in Wingate, Indiana. The course is an out-and-back, with a short grass trail loop near the end. The running surface consists of approximately half a mile of gravel, half a mile of grass, and over three miles of road with decent shoulders. The course was designed for covering a high number of "yards," offering views of sunrise and sunset.
Event Format
This is a Backyard Ultra format. Each competitor must run a loop of 4 miles 880 feet in length each hour. Each new loop starts precisely one hour after the last, with warnings given at three, two, and one minutes prior. Participants must be in the starting corral at the bell for each loop. A loop is only counted if completed within the hour. All runners are eliminated when they can no longer complete a loop within the time limit. The winner is the last person to complete a loop. If no runner completes one more loop than anyone else, there is no winner.
Event Rules
Participants may not leave the course during a loop except for restrooms. No personal aid is allowed during a loop, but common aid stations are provided. No non-competitors are allowed on the course. The use of artificial aids like trekking poles is not permitted. Slower runners must allow passes. Tent or canopy setup is permitted the night before the event. The starting corral is measured to fit the entire field and remains the same size throughout the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
