Steps for Hope - Race Against Alzheimer's
Steps for Hope is an annual communal event organized to support the KLD Alzheimer's Foundation. Held in West Lafayette, Indiana, the event is hosted by the Live Well Fitness and Rehab Center at Westminster Village. The initiative aims to raise funds for Alzheimer's research and to improve the quality of life for those currently living with the disease.
The event features two primary distances for participants to choose from:
- 5K Walk/Run
- 1 Mile Walk
Participants have the opportunity to pick up their race packets at the Live Well Front Desk on the day prior to the race. Registration is available early with a price increase occurring after March 1. The course is situated around the Westminster Village campus, specifically using the Live Well Entrance located on North Salisbury Street.
Recognition is given to high-performing participants through an awards ceremony. These awards include one overall male and female winner, as well as the top male and female finishers in several age categories spanning from 19 and under to 80 and over. A virtual participation option is also available during a specific two-week window surrounding the physical event date.
Proceeds from the registration and sponsorship fees go toward the KLD Alzheimer's Foundation, a volunteer-led nonprofit. The foundation works with partners like Joyful Journey and the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation to invest in treatments and care. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
