The academy costs the post roughly $450 per year; the post covers a majority of that cost so explorers can attend regardless of financial ability. The organizers hope to send six to seven explorers. The exploring program is for youth aged 14-20 and is covered under the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life umbrella. Awards will be given to the top three male finishers and the top three female finishers. The run takes place the day before National Police Week begins.
