Washington Police Explorers Post 2438 5K Run
The Washington Police Department explorer post is holding an inaugural 5K run on 05/16/2026 at the Washington Riverfront near 301 Jefferson, Washington, MO 63090. The event is organized to raise funds to help send explorers to the St. Louis Area Law Enforcement Explorer Academy, a week long program in the St. Louis area. The academy costs the post roughly $450 per participant each year, and the post covers a majority of that cost so explorers can attend regardless of financial ability. The post hopes to send six to seven explorers this year.
The run route follows the riverfront trail as an out-and-back course going east on the trail. The event will be chip timed by Affordable Race Timing. Registration includes a finisher medal and a T-shirt; registrations after April 26 will not receive a T-shirt. Awards will be given to the top three male finishers and the top three female finishers. The explorer program is for youth aged 14 to 20 and is part of the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life umbrella.
Current sponsors listed for the event include The Bank of Washington, The Washington Coffee Shop, and Leon Uniform Company. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
