The Liberation and Freedom Days Reparations Run/Walk takes place on February 28, 2026, in Charlottesville, VA. The event is presented by Prolyfyck Run Crew and the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center. It raises funds to support organizations with Black leadership and to support the local community. Liberation and Freedom Day is a municipal holiday in Charlottesville observed on March 3 to commemorate the arrival of Union troops in 1865 that led to the liberation of over 14,000 formerly enslaved people.

Registration opens November 30, 2025. The start and finish are at the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, 233 4th St NW, Charlottesville, VA 22903.
Logistics and course
Packet pickup is at the Jefferson School Heritage Center on Friday, February 27, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Bibs are also available on the day of the event at the Jefferson School outside the museum shop and cafe (entrance to the left of the Pearl Island entrance). Course maps are provided for both the 8 mile run and the 4 mile walk. The routes pass multiple sites and landmarks related to local African American history and several African American-owned businesses, including the Memorial to Enslaved Laborers, the African American burial ground, Tonsler Park, the Downtown Mall, and the Court Square slave auction block.
