Event overview

The Bold Blitzen 5K is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Bold Rock Cidery in Nellysford, Virginia (1020 Rockfish Valley Hwy, Nellysford, VA 22958). The event is an out-and-back 5 kilometer course that is described as flat and mostly on pavement with some gravel. Walkers, dogs, and all-terrain strollers are allowed on the course. The finish area includes Bold Rock beverage service and a post-race party with an awards ceremony.

Entry, goods and fees

Registration prices change by date: $35 until November 13, 2025; $45 from November 14 through December 5, 2025; and $50 on December 6, 2025. Participants who register on or before November 23, 2025, are guaranteed an event shirt. The event package includes a short sleeve performance event tee, professional chip timing, a commemorative finisher glass, and one pint of Bold Rock hard cider for participants over 21 (a non-alcoholic sparkling cider is provided for those under 21). A referral program offers a $10 refund if four friends sign up using the registrant’s referral link.

Awards, teams and policies

Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to first-place finishers in specified age groups for under and over 21 categories. Team entries are allowed; a complete team is defined as two or more participants and prizes are planned for largest team and best team costumes. There are no refunds; runner transfers are permitted with email request made at least two weeks before race day. In case of severe weather that makes the course unsafe, the event may be postponed to the following day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
