Event overview
The Bold Blitzen 5K is set for Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Bold Rock Cidery in Nellysford, Virginia (1020 Rockfish Valley Hwy, Nellysford, VA 22958). The course is an out-and-back that is described as flat and easy, mostly pavement with some gravel, and offers scenic country views. The event is walker-, dog- and all-terrain stroller-friendly. Included for participants are a short sleeve performance event tee (unisex and ladies cut), professional chip timing, a commemorative finisher glass, a pint of Bold Rock Hard Cider for participants over 21, and a complimentary glass of non-alcoholic sparkling cider for children and adults under 21. Beverage tickets are attached to race bibs and proper ID is required to receive alcoholic beverages.
Entry, teams, awards and policies
Registration fees are tiered: $35 until November 13, 2025; $45 from November 14 to December 5, 2025; and $50 on December 6, 2025. Participants registered by November 23 are guaranteed an event shirt. Teams are groups of two or more; prizes are awarded for the biggest team and best team costumes. A referral program offers a $10 refund if four friends register using a participant's referral link. Awards are given to overall male and female finishers and to first place in specified age groups (under 21: 8-11, 12-15, 16-20; over 21: 21-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80+); winners must be present at the awards ceremony. There are no refunds; runner transfers are allowed. If severe weather makes the course unsafe, the event may be postponed to the following day.
