Walk Around the Block for Autism & Community Expo
The Walk Around the Block for Autism is a community event held in Monroe, Louisiana, focused on promoting inclusion and providing resources for families. The gathering combines physical activity with a festive atmosphere, featuring a community expo with resource vendors, games, food, a DJ, and photography.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Mile Fun Run/Walk
- Silent Walker
- AUSOME Ability Participant (discounted entry for special needs members)
This is not a timed event, and the course is accessible to strollers, scooters, and wheelchairs. The day begins with a warmup before the start of the different distances. Following the walk and run, an awards ceremony recognizes the first-place male and female runners and walkers, the largest preregistered team, and the top fundraising team.
Registration includes a T-shirt for those who meet the early deadline. Proceeds from the event are used to support disability families through community activities, safety and sensory kits, advocacy, and peer support. The event takes place rain or shine, except in cases of extreme weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
