Event
The Wakefield Hospice 5K is the second annual 5-kilometre road race organised to raise funds for patient care at Wakefield Hospice. The 5K takes place on the same day as a 10K event and shares the same start and finish area. The event is open to runners aged 11 and over. The course turns around at the 2.8 km mark.
Course, facilities and entry
The course is a single-lap, flat road route of 5 kilometres. The race is suitable for wheelchairs and has distance markers. Facilities at Race HQ in Thornes Park include water stations, toilets, changing facilities, baggage storage, medical services, physio, commentary, food and drink and a finishers t-shirt. There are no showers. Parking is available near Trinity Cathedral Academy, Penny Appeal Campus Thornes Park and Westgate Retail & Leisure Park.
Entry is limited to 300 places (295 remaining at the time of listing). Early-bird fees are £12 for affiliated runners and £14 for unaffiliated runners; entry on the day is not available. Refunds are offered up to 28 days before the event; entries may be transferred to another runner up to 14 days before the event. A race licence has been applied for. Photographers will be present and participation implies consent for use of photographs for event publicity. Entrants must declare relevant medical conditions and accept the event terms and applicable anti-doping rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
