Wagging Tails on the Trails
The Wagging Tails on the Trails is an annual trail running event held at Pepper Park Riverside in Fort Pierce, located on Hutchinson Island. The course consists of a loop trail that travels through mangroves and hammocks along the Indian River Lagoon. This event is dog friendly, allowing participants to run or walk with their leashed pets.
Participants can choose from several distance options and registration tiers:
- 5k Trail Run/Walk
- 9K Trail Run
- Kids Puppy Dash
- Virtual
The 5k route follows a trail loop after turning at the entrance to Wildcat Cove. The 9k route continues past the 5k turn for approximately 1.2 miles to a turnaround point before joining the loop. A short Puppy Dash is available for children aged 10 and under. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option allows for participation from any location.
Registration packages typically include a t-shirt, finisher medal, and a chip-timed race bib. A specific registration tier is available for those who wish to participate without receiving a medal or shirt. Dogs that cross the finish line receive treats, and water bowls are provided at the water station and expo area. Awards are presented to top finishers in various age categories for both the 5k and 9k distances. Parking is located across the street at Pepper Park beachside.
