About the Event
The Vol State is a point-to-point road race covering a distance of 314 miles (approximately 500 kilometers). The route runs from the Missouri-Kentucky border to a finish point known as "the Rock" on Sand Mountain in Northeast Georgia. The event begins with a ferry crossing of the Mississippi River.
Participants are self-supported. There are no organized aid stations or on-course support crews. Runners must manage their own needs for food, water, and sleep along public highways and backroads. The race takes place in July, with conditions typically involving heat and humidity.
Participants can choose between two registration options. One option includes bus transport to the start, hotel accommodation before the race, and parking at the finish. The other option is for runners who will arrange their own transport and lodging.
All runners are required to check in by phone or text twice daily at set times. If a participant decides to withdraw from the race, transportation back to the finish area is provided upon request. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
