2026 Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon
The Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon takes place October 8 to 10 in Spotsylvania, Virginia at Lake Anna State Park. The event uses multi loop courses inside the state park and emphasizes on course safety, volunteer staffing, and support for athletes and crews.
- Single Anvil: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run
- 1.5x Anvil: 3.6 mile swim, 168 mile bike, 39.3 mile run
- Double Anvil: 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike, 52.4 mile run
All race registrations are completed online. Paper forms, race day registration, and payments via third party services such as PayPal or Venmo are not accepted. Double ANVIL athletes must submit a medical release form signed by a licensed doctor to the race director one month before the event.
Courses are shorter loops inside a controlled area and are clearly marked and manned by volunteers. The swim takes place off the Lake Anna beach in a shallow area with depths up to about 10 to 12 feet. The swim loop is 2,112 feet (644 meters) with an out and back pattern around a 1,056 foot (322 meter) swim line; wetsuits are recommended given typical water temperatures in the mid 60s to 70 degrees.
The bike loop is 5.0769 miles (8.169 kilometers) and is mostly flat with a couple medium hills. Helmets meeting ANSI or Snell standards are required and drafting is prohibited. The run is a 1.00769 mile loop on asphalt. Lighting and visibility equipment are required once it is dark. Crew support is limited to the race village and may not be on course.
