2026 Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon
The event runs October 9-10 at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania, Virginia. Races use multi loop courses inside a controlled park area that are well marked and staffed by volunteers. Shorter loops are used on swim, bike, and run segments to improve course access for medical staff and to allow support activity in the race village.
Distances offered include:
- Single Anvil Triathlon: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run
- 1.5x Anvil Triathlon: 3.6 mile swim, 168 mile bike, 39.3 mile run
- Double Anvil Triathlon: 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike, 52.4 mile run
- Aquabike options and duathlon options at comparable distances
- Relay Double Anvil available for teams of two or three
- Half distance options for triathlon, duathlon, aquabike, and relay
Swim specifics: the swim loop is 2,112 feet (644 meters) with a 1,056 foot (322 meter) swim line. Water depths in the swim area are no greater than about 10 to 12 feet and typical water temperatures have averaged 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit, so wetsuits are recommended. The swim allows any stroke but forbids flotation devices, fins, and flippers. Colored swim caps provided at check in are required for lap timing.
Bike and run specifics: the bike loop is 5.0769 miles (8.169 km) and the run loop is 1.00769 miles (1.621719 km). Night lighting is required for bike and run segments, helmets meeting ANSI or Snell standards are mandatory, drafting and headphones are prohibited, and support must be provided from the race village. Timing uses MyLaps hardware and entries are managed through UltraSignUp. Races are sanctioned by USAT and require a single day USAT pass. Solo Double or greater athletes must submit a physician signed Medical Release Form prior to race day. IUTA participation is optional and may include additional requirements.
