Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon 2026
The Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon takes place October 8 to 10 at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania, Virginia. The event uses multi loop courses inside the state park that are marked and staffed by volunteers. Courses stay within a controlled area to improve on course support and allow family or crew to be more involved from the race village.
Registration is online only; paper entries, race day registration, and payments via PayPal or Venmo are not accepted. Double ANVIL athletes, both solo and team, must submit a medical release form signed by a licensed doctor one month before the event; a downloadable medical release form is provided to entrants.
Distances and basic entry fees:
- Single Anvil: 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile run. $850
- 1.5x Anvil: 3.6 mile swim, 168 mile bike, 39.3 mile run. $1,200
- Double Anvil: 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike, 52.4 mile run. $1,200
Swim details: the swim loop is 2,112 feet (644 meters) with a swim line of 1,056 feet (322 meters). Water in the swim area is shallow, generally no deeper than 10 to 12 feet, with average temperatures around 65 to 70 degrees, so wetsuits are recommended. Floats, fins, and flotation devices are not permitted. Colored swim caps provided at check in must be worn for lap timing and observation.
Bike and run details: the bike loop is 5.0769 miles (8.169 km) with multiple laps required depending on distance. Riders must wear an ANSI or Snell approved helmet buckled whenever touching the bike. Drafting is prohibited and a staggered riding position is required. A white front light and red rear flashing light are required after dark and electricity is available in the race village for charging. The run is a 1.00769 mile loop on asphalt with multiple laps; a headlamp or flashlight and a red flashing rear light are required after dark. Crew support is restricted to the race village during the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
