2026 Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon
The Virginia ANVIL Ultra Triathlon takes place from October 8-10 at Lake Anna State Park in Spotsylvania, Virginia. The event features multi-loop courses designed to keep athletes within a controlled area, allowing support crews and family to remain closely involved throughout the competition.
Participants can choose from three distinct distances:
- Single Anvil Triathlon: Includes a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile run.
- 1.5x Anvil Triathlon: Consists of a 3.6 mile swim, 168 mile bike, and 39.3 mile run.
- Double Anvil Triathlon: Features a 4.8 mile swim, 224 mile bike, and 52.4 mile run.
The swim segment is held in Lake Anna, with water depths reaching 10 to 12 feet. Athletes follow a 644-meter clockwise out-and-back pattern. For the bike segment, participants navigate a 5.07-mile loop inside the park. The course is primarily flat with two medium hills and some smaller rolling sections. The run segment is conducted on an asphalt road following a 1-mile loop.
Safety requirements include the use of white front lights and red rear flashing lights on bicycles during dark hours, as well as headlamps for the run. Double ANVIL participants must submit a medical release form one month before the start. Registration is handled exclusively online, and no race day registration is permitted. Facilities for showering and changing are available near the swim area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
