About the race

The Victory 5 is an annual road race in Portsmouth organised by the City of Portsmouth Athletic Club. The event is a 5 mile course and is part of the Hampshire Road Race League (HRRL). The race has a long history dating back to 1946 and the 2026 edition marks its 80th year.

For 2026 the organisers have introduced a brand new course that runs from the Lakeside, follows the promenade past the Mountbatten Centre, and finishes back at Lakeside. The new route is described in event information as faster and more scenic, and it highlights coastal sections and the Mountbatten Centre area.

The event is listed as the flagship race of the City of Portsmouth Athletic Club and features local sponsorship including Alexandra Sports. The club is based at the Mountbatten Centre, Alex Way, Portsmouth PO2 8QT. The website presentation places the race within the city’s maritime setting and notes its role in local road race competition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
